Quaker Parrot

This small parrot is also known as the Quaker parakeet or the Monk parakeet. Native to southern Brazil and neighboring countries, individuals have escaped or been released from the pet trade since the 1960’s. While populations have established in several areas of the country, the largest population can be found in Florida. Their head, neck and back are green, while their face, throat and breast are light gray. Yellow feathers around the vent sometimes create a flash of color as they fly by in flocks of 15 – 20 birds.
